McDonald’s Next – a new store concept in Hong Kong

Inspiration

The new McDonald’s Next store in Hong Kong (designed by Landini Associates) got our tongues wagging in the office this week.

Here, McDonald’s is tailoring its mother brand to the local market and paring back its branding to give a cleaner, more minimal look.

The counter display of fresh salads gives a feeling of transparency, helping to forge a closer connection between customers and their food. Meanwhile, the super-hip material palette enhances the clean and uncluttered feel of the interior.

We think the design successfully fuses cues from coffee and sushi bars whilst still offering a traditional fast-casual dining experience.
