Sherlock in Amsterdam

Inspiration

Last week, we headed over to Amsterdam for the day to get some inspiration.

Loods 5 – a warehouse store filled with a huge array of beautifully designed furniture and homewares – caught our eye.

IKEA meets Heal’s, even the Loods 5 sign itself grabs the attention, echoing a real life Airfix model kit. However, it was the space itself that most impressed us, by employing a ‘simple is best’ philosophy.

The raw feel of the building provides an antidote to the more typical type of furniture showroom where the design is so often forgotten. Meanwhile, the pared-down nature of the space allows the objects inside to speak for themselves, making them more accessible.
