Bringing the world to life through words
National Literacy Trust
The client
This was our first project working with National Literacy Trust (NLT), an independent charity working with schools and communities in disadvantaged areas to give children the literacy skills to succeed in life.
The project was part of the Department of Education’s Hungry Little Minds campaign to support families in the home learning environment through offering simple, fun activities for children from newborns up to five.
The brief
Working with copy written by Rebecca Lewis-Oakes, and Aaron Cushley’s beautiful illustrations, our job was to design 12 story trail booklets for children aged 2-5. The booklets aimed to encourage children to explore 12 designated parks across the country through storytelling, from Newcastle’s Leazes Park, to Cornwall’s Tehidy Country Park.
What we delivered
Letting Aaron’s illustrations speak for themselves, we designed a clean template, introducing minimal, functional assets to either help guide the reader or to elevate the copy.
What the client said
“Sherlock took on this complex job with a short deadline with friendliness and professionalism. They immediately understood the brief and created lovely, child-friendly designs that were perfect for our audience. Their communication was excellent throughout the project, and I had complete trust that they would get the work done on time and to a high standard. We would definitely look to work with them again.”
