Celebrating 90 Years

British Exploring Society

Client

British Exploring Society (BES) is a youth development charity, empowering and equipping young people with the courage, skills, resilience and determination to make the most of their future.

Brief

We were asked to create a celebratory anniversary identity and tagline for each of BES’s 90 and 100-year anniversaries.

What we delivered

Visually, both anniversary identities utilise the masterbrand assets including the segmented circle and core colours. Keeping them visually very close to the masterbrand was important as there would be occasions when they would be used in place of the masterbrand logo.

In similar vein to the ‘Find Your fire’ masterbrand tagline, ‘Building Stronger Futures’ is positive and forward-looking. Whilst the former is a rallying call to action to would-be explorers, the latter is more a descriptor of what BES does and seeks to achieve. It is also designed to reflect the collaborative nature of BES’s work: BES, together with the young people who go on expedition, will build stronger futures.

We applied the same tagline to both identities to conceptually tie the two together – in line with the visual look & feel – and as a reminder of the organisation’s focus in the decade between the two anniversaries.

You can read more about BES’s anniversaries in this blog by CEO Honor Wilson-Fletcher MBE.
