Freshening up in the city

Tesco

The client

We have had a successful working relationship with Tesco since our studio was founded, working with the retailer on many aspects of their store design – both internal and external – and brand.

The brief

Tesco asked us to design a fresh communication style for the deli areas in one of its new city stores, just south of Kuala Lumpur, in Malaysia.

What we delivered

Drawing inspiration from a country rich in food culture and buzzing outdoor markets, we brought together a mix of low-tech graphic devices to create a busy blend of photography, handwritten type and textures, that both confronts and surprises.

The result is a radically different approach within this traditional supermarket space, a feast for the eyes, and something that celebrates a city with a deep knowledge of food, spices and flavours.
