Making a startup stand out
Matt Lyons Consulting
The brief
We were asked by our client, Matt Lyons – previously a senior design manager at Walgreens Boots Alliance – to create a brand identity, and suite of templates, for his new company, Matt Lyons Consulting.
Project requirements
Our client needed a way of reintroducing himself to people he already knew – and introducing himself to new contacts – as a new independent consultancy, but one which reflected his experience in the industry.
The look and feel had to be serious and business-like, but at the same time, reflect the company’s status as a start-up and a new business. Meanwhile, Tone of Voice had to be light-hearted and engaging; a ‘jacket-and-trousers’ business rather than a ‘suit-and-tie’ business.
What we delivered
We designed a simple, bold logotype, with a secondary geometric pattern, to reflect the client’s structured and ordered approach to both creative and commerce. It had to encompass a certain level of sophistication but it also needed to work subtly in certain applications, and be flexible enough to work across a wide range of mediums, such as web/ print/ PowerPoint etc.
What the client says
“I am thrilled that one of the first decisions I made for my new business was to engage Sherlock in designing the corporate branding. My business is a ‘serious’ management consultancy, but it’s also design-focused and creative – the design captured all this simply and impactfully. Sherlock were easy to work with, generating great concepts and leading me through the process with ease.” – Matt Lyons, Director.
