Time for tiffin
Curry Leaf Cafe
The client
When the UK’s lockdown response to Coronavirus began, the hospitality sector saw out of home dining end overnight.
Our existing client, Curry Leaf Cafe (CLC), quickly pivoted to enhance and extend its home delivery capability.
The brief
We were tasked with designing CLC’s first home delivery and retail packaging. It had to bring to life the new branding that we had developed for CLC and which had already been rolled out at its Ship Street site and applied to its website.
The packaging had to deliver a ‘wow’ factor to customers, providing a unique CLC at-home dining experience that would set it apart from competitors. This was particularly important as, due to the temporary closure of CLC’s two restaurants, this would be the first taste of CLC that some customers would have. Ideally, some would go on to eat in the restaurants when they reopened.
What we delivered
We worked with suppliers to engineer a suitable carrying unit in which to house the pots. This concept was a nod to the traditional tiffin tins delivered by tiffin-wallahs in India.
We then created a visual feast for the eyes by mixing up the motifs (representing the six states of India) that we had earlier developed for CLC.
What the client said
“Sherlock were invaluable in helping us turn Curry Leaf at Home into a reality: from sourcing and designing a packaging solution, to branding the concept and bringing it to life. They’re an easy bunch to work with, have a great knowledge of the sector and give 110% to everything they undertake.” Euan Sey, Founder and Commercial Director
